Like rooibos, honeybos is a shrub and both are part of the legume family.
Honey forest grows on medium-sized shrubs and gets beautiful, yellow flowers that smell a bit like honey. This is where the name Honeybos comes from.
Honeybush grows mainly in the coastal regions of both the Western Cape and Eastern Cape provinces in South Africa. Honeyforest plants have a woody trunk and a relatively low 'leaves per branch' ratio.
This shrub with a yellow, orange or brown trunk has leaves that are ready to be picked. Forests full of leaves are then picked from this shrub. All bunches are then transferred to a factory where they will be fermented. The color of the leaves changes and the aroma that is naturally present in them develops.
Honey forest also contains antioxidants such as flavones, isoflavones, coumestans, luteolin, 4-hydroxy - 3-phenylpropenoic acid, polyphenols and xanthones. Like the rooibos, the honeybush is naturally caffeine-free.
